Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha
Now look, the Odisha government has finally realized that it is wise to join the country’s largest health scheme. Recently, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the National Health Authority (NHA) to implement Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the state. And yes, this scheme will be run in conjunction with Odisha’s own Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) so that the public gets “double health benefit”.
Now under this “revolutionary” initiative, every family will get health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh annually. The special thing is that an additional ₹5 lakh facility will be given for women. Well, finally some extra thought has been given for women. Around 10.3 million families will benefit from this scheme, out of which 6.78 million families will get assistance from the central government.
Odisha become the 34th state to join Ayushman Bharat scheme
With this initiative, Odisha has now become the 34th state in India to join this health insurance scheme. Only West Bengal and Delhi are left now. The government is also in talks with these states so that the entire country can come under the purview of this scheme. After all, the ‘good day’ in healthcare should come for everyone, right?
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also proudly informed that now people of the state will be able to get cashless and quality treatment in more than 29,000 government and private hospitals. Earlier, people could get treatment in only 900 hospitals, but now there is a flood of facilities.
